Two of the best
They weren’t household names but two great Victorian racing personalities passed away in the last fortnight and their lives were celebrated last week.
On the Monday Peter Provis was remembered at a very well attended service at the Yea picnic racecourse. Peter was a great picnic race person who gave his all to the Yea picnic race club over his 41 years at he club.
Over that period Peter filled every position from president to the bloke who picked up the rubbish after each meeting.
On the Wednesday John Sottile was buried at Cheltenham, the church overflowing with people who’d had the pleasure of meeting this wonderfully well principled man.
John, a great family man and friend to all, had success with such horses as Graceful Emma, Emmasentual and Guiscard.
Everyone’s number goes in the frame but some people can never be replaced.
