Lame critique
Richard Callander must either be getting no decent editorial advice, or if offered he simply ignores it. How else to explain his woefully lame attempt at critiquing Patrick Smith regarding jumps racing?
Callander mentions Smith’s reference to advocates of jumps racing accusing him (Smith) of having no understanding, together with citing Smith’s assertion that Rodney Rae’s arguments are silly and empty of logic. He then goes on to argue that these two positions are equivalent, thereby establishing Smith’s double standard. No mention of any of the arguments on either side, no reference to any of what came before Smith’s (or Rae’s) statements, no consideration of context — in short no substantive treatment of the issue whatsoever!
The superficiality of this almost beggars belief.
PS: I shouldn’t need to say this, but the above says nothing whatsoever about any position I might hold regarding Smith or Rae’s position vis-a-vis jumps racing.
