Jim Griffiths (18/9) takes to task those who protest against jumps racing, citing the sad case of Station Hand while claiming that the rescue of this horse "says it all about the commitment of these banner-wavers," and how the lass who rescued this fine horse had "put posers like this to shame."
Shame? Well, Jim, where were the thousands of horse racing participants and followers when Station Hand needed a home? Where were you?
I have purchased racehorses from a knackery and re-homed them. Have you? Other members of our organisation have done likewise.
The Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses is not opposed to horse racing. It is opposed to cruelty in horseracing. We are opposed to poor Takeover Target being put back into training, but then so are most racing folk. We have something in common. We are appalled at the incident involving Sirrocean Storm at Warrnambool (again, so were most racegoers) and we will continue to fight for a fair go for all racehorses.
Perhaps you might seek to be better informed before making such statements in future.
