Time of his life

opposed to Takeover Target being put back into training.

Why is that cruel? Does he think he knows what is better for the horse than its owners? Perhaps he is really Dr Doolittle and he interviewed the horse, who told him that he would prefer to be in a paddock getting fat than having to exercise.

Unfortunately not even the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses can actually talk to the horse but perhaps Mr Celotto can read some articles and quotes from swimmer Geoff Huegill about his return to training and how life on the couch was not so great.

I suggest Mr Celotto should spend some time at a racing stable and see how well racehorses are looked after.

Apart from keeping fit working out every morning they are well groomed, kept in a comfortable stable and fed well.

Mr Celotto should seek to be better informed himself as racehorses, especially ones like Takeover Target, are not put under any pressure in trackwork. Racehorses love to run and be ridden and I’m sure Takeover Target would be enjoying his work.

If he did get back to the races I’m sure the jockey would look after him, even in a close finish.

If it is a fact that most racegoers agree with you that Takeover Target shouldn’t return to the racetrack it would be because the horse has nothing left to prove, not because it is cruel.

Please don’t give me that argument that horses injure themselves in trackwork because I have had two horses put down in recent times due to injuries in their paddock. Horses love to gallop and can cause themselves injuries anywhere.
