Letter of the Week

Good Life

I’m usually tucked in my bed when This Racing Life airs on TVN, and I’m so glad that last week I wasn’t. After seeing the story on Danny Nikolic I have to say that it seems to me that the racing industry struggles with those who tell it as it is, or maybe the industry doesn’t like to hear the truth.

Either way, I have felt like this for a number of years, and was so pleased to discover that there is someone within the industry who stands by their own beliefs and speaks their mind.

Rather than marching to same drum that "the powers that be" expect all those within the Sport of Kings to march to.

Being politically correct is always the easy road, so most take it, but it doesn’t mean it’s the right road.

Those who gain success that way may enjoy it at the time, but they are easily forgotten.

Those who gain success through hard work, and maybe not saying what everyone wants to hear, will be remembered for not only their track succuss, but also for doing it their way.

I know Danny will be talked about long after he has finished riding for both his riding skill/success and for his outspokenness.

Danny, you reminded of someone very close to home, and have restored a little faith in the industry for me. You go, Danny.
