Gospel according to Matthew

For a long period of time now a Melbourne radio/print journalist with a biblical Christian name has continued to play up his theory that there is not much between Hay List and Black Caviar.

This Easter, aptly, he has continued along the same lines, which has finally prompted my post.

His praise of Hay List and prognosticating now about what might happen over 1400 metres in Brisbane is bordering on denigration of Caviar’s achievements.

Just look at the facts and figures. Hay List is a very good horse but Caviar has given him windburn the three times they have met, with eased-up margins of 11.4, 3¼ and 2¾ lengths respectively! Furthermore, Caviar could have smashed long-standing Flemington and Randwick track records in so doing.

My humble suggestion to the journalist is to start believing what his eyes are seeing, enjoy the ride and witness in awe what is possibly the greatest sprinter that has ever raced anywhere.
