Now the Sydney carnival has finished it’s about time we looked at downgrading some Group 1 races. The two I would like to mention are the Sydney Cup and The Galaxy.

The first three horses home in the cup would get lapped in a decent staying race yet they are now classed as Group 1 performers, which is a disgrace.

The Galaxy also needs to be looked at next year if they can’t get a better field, as again the first three horses would not be out of place at a picnic meeting.

Sydney racing has never been that great to start with but is it that hard to try to make some inroads?
