Unacceptable

I could not agree more with Barry Chin (23/4). When are the stewards going to do something about the antics of Glen Boss?

The clown-like behaviour he displays when winning a big race is simply unacceptable and would not be tolerated by stewards if it were any other rider. The paltry fines he cops are an embarrassment to the industry.

Not only does he put his horse at risk of injury, he is hugely multiplying the risk of injury or death to all the riders and horses in the race. It is only a matter of time before one of his mounts drops him and he and his horse become an unnecessary obstacle for those behind. It could certainly end in disaster.

If the stewards aren’t going to do anything about it, maybe his peers should. They are the ones that are going to be affected most when the inevitable happens. The jockeys, and the athletes under them, deserve much more respect.

Apart from the obvious safety issues, I am sure that when an owner gets a big race win in return for all their financial and emotional investment, they don’t want the photo of their horse going past the post ruined by a goose carrying on like a pork chop. I have just ventured into ownership and I would hate to see antics like that on my horse.
