Give owners a say

As an owner-breeder, I can’t believe Racing Victoria Ltd CEO Rob Hines can be serious about his backhanded swipe at TROA in the Herald Sun on June 3. Mr Hines must remember you should never bite the hand that feeds you.

There is nothing personal in the reported comments of TROA’s Jonathan Munz, so don’t take it that way.

If not for owners, we don’t have an industry. When will clubs and RVL realise this? The number-one person in this industry is the owner.

There is an old saying: "Where there’s smoke, there’s fire." This argument re corporate bookmakers’ fees has been going on for a number of months, so why is RVL so touchy about its funding model when someone questions it?

RVL, be more transparent and give all your information to TROA. Let them have a look at it and maybe, just maybe, they may be able to provide some constructive suggestions.

If TROA had been involved from the beginning on the fee structure, this questioning and criticism would not be brought up.
