Hoops hit for stipes' stuff-up

Another appalling indictment on the Australian and especially Queensland racing Industry.

At Doomben on August 20 two horses, Bootooloo and Brigadoon Star, were loaded into the wrong barriers, race run, and correct weight given!

Bootooloo was officially beaten 0.3 of a length — and the stewards miraculously determine barriers didn’t affect the race result?

Barriers have a huge effect — often far more than 0.3 of a length.

Attempting to save face, Queensland stewards unbelievably used rule AR175(k) to fine the jockeys! Isn’t this the responsibility of those employed at the barriers?

Incidentally, I never bet on the race in question.

The only proepr result would have been a refund of all monies, and the race re-scheduled for another time.

The recent ABC story on harness racing wasn’t as shocking as this "result".

I hardly ever bet on Queensland races. Little wonder with this standard of "professionalism".
