Beyond compare
Why in racing do we always have to compare champions of the turf from different eras? I know people will always have their own opinion, which makes for great discussions, but for Peter Moody, Luke Nolen and the owners of Black Caviar to be met by media asking questions about their horse being as good as or better than Phar Lap because of certain streaks and records, achieved some 80 years apart, it really astounds me.
How about we let Phar Lap be Phar Lap and Black Caviar be Black Caviar. Phar Lap was a champion to do what he did and is correctly remembered and spoken about in that light.
Black Caviar is a champion and hopefully has plenty of racing left in those very fast legs of hers.
So, instead of comparing, let’s for now sit back admire her and be thankful that we can all say we were around when Black Caviar was.
