Letter of the Week

Windows of opportunity

In relation to the letter by Terry Jolley concerning the high- and low-value tote window queues at the track (22/10), all any punter has to do, regardless of bet size, is simply walk up and call out his or her bets and pay the money.

If anyone says, "Do you realise these are high-value windows?" or words to that effect, politely reply, "Yes, I do."

If the tote person starts to say anything, simply state, "According to the law you are unable to refuse my bet regardless of what is written on the window."

NO clerk is allowed to refuse your bet. If one does, ask for the supervisor, who will explain the law to the person concerned.

The situation is quite clear. Regardless of the size of your bets all punters pay the same amount to enter the track therefore they should receive the same treatment.
