Ask the hard ones
I must admit l enjoy the Radio Sport National racing show on Sunday mornings at 8am and find the comments on the previous day’s racing informative and interesting. But l sometimes cringe when they talk to a representative of the stewards panel. The failure to ask any hard questions regarding anything controversial is quite amusing.
On Sunday December 4 the team reached an all-time low in a pathetic interview with acting chief steward Allan Reardon.
They were almost apologetic about bringing up the Talia Rodder appeal. When Mr Reardon strongly argued that the stewards were still right, no one questioned him or took him to task over his comments.
Surely they could have said (nicely) what everyone in and out of the industry was saying — that there would be no jockeys to ride if they were suspended for every bad ride they produce.
Come on, fellas, show a bit of courage. They are racing stewards, not gods.
