They've overcooked Caviar
We would have to assume the connections of that bay mare Black Caviar have been reading too much Richard Callendar, a wonderful punter and racing journalist who occasionally strays into the area of the breed itself. He is well known for his suggestion that punters should support horses on the quick back-up.
It might be okay that week, Richard, but have you followed up what happens after that?
I reckon it would be about 40 years ago that stewards recommended to the controlling body trainers be banned from racing the thoroughbred twice on the one day.
Hopefully it won’t be another 40 years before the stewards recommend that trainers are banned from backing the thoroughbred up from week to week.
Apparently some trainers think they are greater than the breed itself.
Every single person in Oz will be hoping that (Bay) Caviar cleans them up overseas, providing of course she recovers from her reported bout of tiredness.
Connections will rue the day they backed this thoroughbred up, especially if she comes up against Frankel, whose connections would never be silly enough to back him up.
