Letter of the Week

Place in history

Not to put too fine a point on it, Australia’s self-appointed know-all on anything to do with horses really came unstuck with his views on the Doncaster!

More Joyous surely sealed her place in history with her greatest win. I hope Adam has the good grace to give himself an overdue three-month spell. If not, perhaps the good people at Winning Post could suspend his ridiculous letters.

By the way, the mare’s three "grand finals" were pretty unsuitable on reflection — the Golden Slipper scamper, last year’s bog-track Donny and the 2040m weight-for-age test, ridden poorly and beaten by a champ!

And please, Adam old mate, no excuses for the rest. Her eight main rivals had every possible. Shoot Out, Yosei and Sincero ran well and the only hard-luck story came from the lightweight who ran home like Bernborough (Happy Trails).

All in all I’m pretty confident you got your right whack!! Take your medicine and go into hibernation for the winter!

Finally, just a short note on the letter from J. Smith (21/4) defending Aidan O’Brien. Mate, you can quote all the figures you want but I’m simply talking about the way So You Think has been ridden!

You say yourself he’s done well over there. Well, if you actually take your blinkers off and watch the races, imagine what he could have done ridden with judgment! All the best to all.
