Mott figures
Peter J. McNamara (30/6) states that the Geelong-based jockey Jamie Mott rides irregularly and "doesn’t figure" in the Victorian jockeys’ tables.
It is true that Jamie Mott is a heavyweight jockey and accordingly has fewer riding opportunities than his lighter counterparts.
However, he has still managed 416 rides, this racing year to the end of June.
Roughly the same number of rides as Glen Boss, Steven Arnold, Damien Oliver and Mark Zahra.
And he certainly does figure in the jockeys’ premiership in this state.
He is currently in 11th position with 74 winners — well in front of the other above-mentioned quality hoops.
