Moving right along
I’m hoping the circumstances surrounding Black Caviar’s race in England won’t become a millstone to be carried by Luke Nolen. Whatever happened, it would be unfair to continually associate this one race with the work of this excellent jockey.
It’s easy to ride a horse from the stands or the front of a television screen. I was always of the opinion that the criticisms levelled on Roy Higgins regarding his ride on Hyperno were over the top. All prominent sportsmen and women eventually make mistakes.
The one thing Black Caviar’s performance should tell us is just how well So You Think has performed in the UK. Like others I’ve often wondered about his trainer’s actions last season, and it was pleasing to hear O’Brien admit that he "got it wrong".
Even Bradman got it wrong on occasions. Let’s get over Black Caviar’s situation and celebrate another wonderful performance from a great mare.
