Encouraging move
Congratulations should be extended to the Melbourne Racing Club, the Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners Association of Victoria and the state government on the plan to build an owners’ bar at Caulfield.
As an owner and syndicate manager, I have often felt this has been a missing component.
The metropolitan clubs generally do a good job on race day but this will give people an incentive to get to the races more often.
This is not necessarily a cost consideration but more about having a sense of participation in an exciting industry.
Owners are clearly industry participants who should be encouraged to attend even if they don’t have a horse running.
