All class
The story of Peter Gelagotis and his horses this spring must be the best story of the carnival so far.
The emotional interview — conducted by TVN’s Bruce Clark in his typically classy fashion — after Hvasstan won the Norman Robinson Stakes was something else.
Not only was Peter dealing with the passing of his father that week, but also the pressure of having a horse who is a serious contender for the Victoria Derby.
His tribute to his father and all of his family was first class. The racing industry should be proud of him.
So it was fantastic for Peter to train another winner — Mourhino — at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day.
Again, his post-race interview was all class. And to top it off Nusudarah saluted at Sale on Sunday for him. I can only hope for Peter and his family that Hvasstan wins the Derby this Saturday. That would make my spring carnival.
