Get it right
I heartily agree with Peter Hicks of Hobart (19/1).
Radio Sport National announcers and callers butcher horse names to an embarrassing degree.
An owner deserves to have his or her horse called correctly. There rarely seems to be much effort given to this task.
The word "monsieur" must be one of the most common of French words. Everyone should at least get that right.
A racecaller mispronouncing it each and every time as "mon-swa" really bugs me and sounds so unprofessional.
Some trainers don’t care, but then its not their job or responsibility.
The new fellow announcing the Saturday 10am scratchings has no clue at all. Foreign or English, he’ll make a hash of it either way.
Take some care and get it right.
