It's a circus

I wonder why there is no comment on the current dangerous riding habits of jockeys.

They seem to be "floating" above the horses and thus they are very insecure. There is nothing to prevent them being thrown to the ground if the horse stumbles.

Wouldn’t it be more sensible to lower the stirrups and sit firmly on the saddle like they did in the good old days?

Then if the horse falls the jockey can brace himself with his knees and even help the horse to regain balance by pulling the horse’s head up. Thus, less accidents.

The present-day style of riding should be confined to the circus.
