On the topic of omen bets (7/9), it’s a while ago now but on Valentine’s Day in 1997 a neddy named Capone won at Colac, ridden by Bill Nolan. Those who remembered Al Capone’s famous Valentine’s Day massacre of seven mob rivals in Chicago in 1929 had a nice collect. Capone started at $7 (6/1).
