Boban up
What an amazing sequence of wins by Boban, five in total. Three in Sydney including the Epsom and two in Melbourne culminating in the Emirates. First horse to complete the double in 27 years.
Plenty wanted to tip against him. One form expert (Dominic Beirne) had him rated as an 8-1 chance.
Yes, he went up in weight and met plenty worse off from the Epsom. But if you forgot the figures and watched all of his wins, they were outstanding.
He either copped interference, cruised to the line untouched or, in the case of the Moonga at Caulfield, both.
Congratulations to his trainer and jockey (Chris Waller and Glyn Schofield), both stars in their own right. Schofield’s patient riding style suits the horse perfectly.
I look forward to seeing this exciting horse continue his winning run next autumn and spring.
