The most horrible example at the moment is the consistent Monsieur Pierre, who according to one Sky caller is "Mon-swaar" Pierre. I cringe every time. The owners should have put the caller straight on this one.

Now in south-eastern South Australia we have Danube Delta. Simple? Straightforward? Not on your life. At Penola on January 8 the caller changed his name to "Danubee" Delta.

I know callers aren’t necessarily rocket scientists but simple pronunciations should be within their range.

Sadly today’s callers are not in the same class as legends like Bill Collins or Bert Bryant.
