Don't blame Blake
I agree with Richie (1/3) about not blaming Blake Shinn for the performance of Zanbagh.
It’s not the jockey who should be brought up before the stipes but the trainer — for running an unfit horse at an unsuitable distance.
While I am a fan of Guy Walter I fail to see why any horse should be put into a race that is looked upon as a trial.
Ray Murrihy pointed this out in his deliberations but failed to take any action, which in itself is encouragement for trainers to continue this practice.
As the reporter rightly says, the stipes are there to protect the interests of us punters.
It’s easy enough to blow the hard-earned on fit horses without having to lose it on ones that are only there for the afternoon out.
