Not often wrong
RSN’s Carnival on Saturdays with Vince Accardi is a phenomenon.
There are those who say that Accardi’s capacity for inventing reasons for "what happened", for rationalising what has just occurred to harmonise with his "insight", is quickly becoming legendary.
The mental somersaults, the circumlocutions, the strategic silences, demonstrate an audaciousness that leaves one gasping with admiration.
The lack of anything even remotely approaching objective self-criticism is a marvel indeed.
And the laughter that emanates from Vince as he and his fellow panelists congratulate and reinforce themselves with their catch phrases ("absolutely", "exactly", "no doubt at all", and "good stuff") speaks of an almost breathtaking degree of self-confidence, a self-confidence that can only be looked upon with wistful envy.
I write this in the sincere hope of furthering the kind of recognition the program richly deserves.
