Give us a break
Adrian Dunn published one of his best columns for a while in the June 28 edition.
The gist of it, for those who couldn’t manage it all, was that we have too much racing. Is anyone hearing us? It is ridiculous that each discipline (trots, dogs, horses) can’t have a single day off each week.
All right, not Monday, as Adrian bravely offered, but Tuesday for racing, and say Thursday for trots and dogs.
It doesn’t create the day off for the poor embattled TAB branch operator, but it might mean he can pick his personal day off more easily.
Why are we taking so long to get to this completely obvious change? Is it really greed? I don’t think it needs to be.
Ask Hong Kong. Once people have had a freshener of a day or two, they join in with more vigour and the available betting money does the same round.
