The right recipe

Recently returned from the Darwin Cup carnival myself, I agree with Richard Callander (9/8): “It is fun.”
Searching for the right recipe to get people involved in racing?
I think Women in Thoroughbred Racing Northern Territory are excelling in the promotion of racing in the Top End.
The Association supports the ongoing inclusion of women in the industry and introduces racing to women who would otherwise not be involved.
WTRNT provides a social network for women with social events, race trips away and an annual Cup Week Luncheon.
I think the most exciting thing the association is doing is offering very affordable shares in horses. These syndicates can have 30 or more women owners, which creates great interest and attendance when the horse runs. “Riding home” a horse you have a small share in is a thrill— especially if it wins.
Country Racing Victoria could follow the lead WTRNT have taken in supporting and including women in racing by researching sound country horses and trainers, then offering affordable shares to groups of women.
Imagine busloads of frocked-up gals arriving at a country race meet to watch their horses run? Maybe this could be the right recipe. A win/win and fun for all concerned.
