Walking the walk

Just wanted to say what a fantastic job Kaye Callander and her team did for the 2015 Melbourne 4tracks4kids walk.
This was my third walk, and the improvements from the first one to this one have been excellent — judging by this year’s walk, it was basically perfect.
From having everyone wear the 4tracks4kids shirt and cap, to walking together and waiting for each other at each checkpoint, from the excellent choice of snacks along the walk (served by cheerful, happy helpers), and ending with everyone together at the Valley was a credit to you all.
Even the route you selected was first class. It made the walk much more enjoyable going via the beach to see more than just houses.
When I did the first walk I was a straggler, and unfit, and it was disappointing when people treated it like a race.
Fast forward two years and I have lost 13kg, am much fitter, managed to walk the past two years relatively pain-free (compared to the first), and it is a unified, together event, raising money for a great cause.
The walk has helped turn my life around in many ways. Most of all, it may have added a few more years to my life by getting me healthy.
My kids will probably thank you for that one day.
I awoke on Tuesday still buzzing from the walk, so kudos to Kaye, Richie, and everyone involved. It’s a life-changing event helping more than just charities.
Keep up the great work and I might even try to get to the Sydney one if the planets align.
