It lives
Congratulations to all involved in the Memsie Stakes day launch of the Racing.com TV coverage, but I’m confused.
Only days before, a noted racing scribe at a down-on-its-luck media organisation had written: “It’s understood that the architects of Channel 78 were strongly opposed to any connection with the ill-fated TVN model that was closed down on March 15 after proving one of the most expensive white elephants in sports broadcasting history.”
And yet here we were with David “Gator” Gately doing the form and Sam Hyland on horseback talking to the hoops.
Okay, we had a different Bruce doing the hosting, we had Shane Anderson doing the interviews rather than one of the co-hosts, and we had a different bookie giving us the market movers.
But all in all, what it looked like to me was TVN with better resources.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
