This is serious
A very serious situation has arisen in Victorian racing with the Peter Moody outburst against the stewards. In my long association with racing I cannot recall such criticism from a licensed person.
Although Moody could have used less strident language I believe that there is merit in some of his arguments.
His contention that the stewards had considered engaging a “mole” to work inside his stable was a real bombshell.
To later hear from the chief steward Terry Bailey that this was at least partly true is simply quite unbelievable.
The racing industry has large numbers of persons within it, all of whom are essential members.
I would submit that trainers like Moody and his cohort of trainer-supporters at Caulfield are just as important to racing as those in charge of integrity.
Moody is under real pressure in relation to the cobalt charge at present.
However, it is to be hoped that action by stewards does not cause racing to lose him, one of racing’s real personalities.
