Watching Bernard Saundry speak on Racing.com about increased betting on fixed odds as against totalisator pools, I was reminded of a recommendation to South Australian authorities by the late Colin Hayes.
I wonder where racing in SA would be if officials had followed Hayes’s recommensation to establish fixed-odds betting by the state TAB?
South Australia’s TAB might have sold for a great deal more in the inevitable consolidation and owners would be racing for higher stakes.
He was a man of great foresight, C.S. Hayes.
