Interested to know what Lucia Valentina’s stake money was after her Queen Elizabeth Stakes win.
I was astounded to see the trophy value total for the race: $114,500 — half for the owner, a quarter each for trainer and jockey.
What exactly does a $57,250 trophy look and feel like? I’d like to be the maker — probably has a committee connection.
Like everything else involved in this two-day extravaganza, surely the prizemoney for the Queen Elizabeth could have been halved and still attracted the entries they got.
The other half could be very well used providing racing opportunities for the silent majority of racing in NSW — the forgotten many who provide the day-to-day revenue that funds this Carnival of the Elite.
