Go back, Richo

I have the utmost respect for Paul Richards but sometimes one’s judgement is very off.
To list only the last 30 years is to ignore not just racecallers but champion callers that were around particularly when great horses were also around.
They (racecallers) contributed to promoting horse racing in a way that the racing world didn’t expect.
If you’re going to look at the best Australian racecallers you have to do it for all of our time (which isn’t all that long, really) and you would need to include the likes of Ken Howard, (London to a brick on), Bert Bryant and Joe Brown.
Of course Bill Collins would have to be Number 1. And who can forget the famous Kingston Town Call (“Kingston Town can’t win”)  of 1982 (Cox Plate) after the horse had won the race in 1980 and 1981? And the famous Our Waverley Star and Bonecrusher fight to the line in the 1986 epic.
