What is Racing Victoria trying to prove? Fancy putting on an eight-race meeting of six jumps races and two highweights for jumps jockeys, as occurred at Ballarat on August 21.
I have been betting on thoroughbreds for 65 years and have never had a bet on jumpers, although I do watch them and admire their courage.
If you want to put on these jumps-only days, then please run another country meeting as well, because I am sure betting turnover at Ballarat will have been way down.
Racing Victoria doesn’t make too many mistakes but this one is a personal best.
