Rick's a ripper

Congratulations to Rick Jamieson for breeding Caulfield Cup winner Jameka.
With Jameka’s performance to soundly beat the overseas intruders, he has shown that Australian breeders can produce world-class stayers.
Jamieson must surely be recognised as Australia’s most successful breeder after consistently producing Group 1 winners from his small band of broodmares at the boutique Gilgai Farm in northern Victoria.
He first produced world-champion sprinter Black Caviar, then her half-brother All Too Hard, who won the Caulfield Guineas and was runner-up in the Cox Plate.
He also bred The Quarterback, who won this year’s Newmarket Handicap.
Jameka won last year’s VRC Crown Oaks and was runner-up in the ATC Australian Derby against the colts. Her easy win in the Caulfield Cup shows the improvement she has made since then. Hopefully she can now add the Melbourne Cup to her impressive record.
Well done, Rick!
