Why is it that our race callers cannot pronounce names already in use properly?
I have to laugh at how a certain French actor’s surname is pronounced, and the latest stuff-up is Arbeitsam.
One caller pronounces it “Ar-be-it-sam”.
The horse’s mother is Workhard, and “arbeitsam” is German for hard-working or industrious. It is pronounced “Ar-bite-sahm”.
All I ask is for race callers to do some homework and put the stresses where they belong.
