No sympathy

Successful Kiwi Jockey James McDonald got off lightly with an 18-month suspension for breaking the rules of racing in relation to betting on races.
He was motivated by sheer greed, not need.
How could it be otherwise when the 24-year-old hoop has ridden horses which have earned over A$62 million dollars in prize money (RV website) since he began riding only nine years ago, from which he has trousered more than $3 million (5%) in rider’s percentages!
Plus hundreds of thousands of dollars in professional riding fees.
His behaviour has further tarnished the image and integrity of thoroughbred racing in this country.
Australian racing would better off without his services — permanently.
