No-brainer
Can’t understand all the fuss about the Sydney spring carnival revamp, which mainly seems to consist of various no-name races (Hill Stakes, Craven Plate, Premiere Stakes, The Shorts) being shunted around the calendar by a week or two.
Admittedly most of these races are being pushed back, into the space previously regarded as Melbourne’s domain.
But if we’re too parochial to accept an independent national racing commission with genuine powers (as exists in every other professional sport), then of course self-interest is the pony to bet on.
And why wouldn’t Sydney want to move in on mid-October, in order to breathe the precious oxygen available between the AFL/NRL grand finals and the AFL draft?
It’s a no-brainer. Why complain?
