If “a little help from Lloyd” is the best Matthew Stewart can come up with to defeat Winx, it was an inglorious result — but not for the crowd on course to witness her epic win.
“Winx is still winning but she is at a crossroad,” he wrote … “The effortlessness isn’t there anymore.”
We must have been at a different racecourse last Saturday as Winx rounded up her opposition and ran away from them for a brilliant win.
Stewart’s article was positively negative. If he wants to undermine our good (even champion) horses, then he has no place in contributing to Winning Post.
Every person on the course, and there were plenty there, cheered Winx on to her victory.
Yes, he should be plastered with rotten eggs. Maybe he should also eat some eggless humble pie.
A couple of races later, in The Bart Cummings, we saw the “Lloyd” team at work with Granddukeoftuscany leading the field at a good clip for the larger part of the race only to be caught and passed in the final stages by Amelie’s Star, leaving his stable mate having to really stretch out to grab fourth, contrary to market expectations.
