(Good idea)

In US racing, stablemates owned in the same interests and running in the same race are bracketed for betting purposes, so the first runner might be number 2, the second 2a and so on. You just back the 2 bracket — you can’t single out the runners when having a punt.
I used to think this was over the top and anathema to the way we like to bet in Australia.
But now, looking at the rather unpredictable results achieved by some prominent stables whose horses mainly race in the same interests, I’m not so sure.
