Silence not golden
With respect, what a ludicrous intervention by the Australian Jockeys Association on behalf of its members.
Let me pluck a few names: Fabian Alesci, John Keating, John Robertson.
Does the association think they won’t feel aggrieved by being denied some exposure should they happen to ride a winner during the media ban?
Only the big boys, who win plenty of races, can afford to turn their backs on the media.
Did the AJA give any thought to a struggling apprentice who might benefit from media attention?
Well, there is something to be said for the media ban.
Geon Singh last Thursday trained his first winner since 2014 and he had a chance to tell his story.
Mind you, his winning rider, apprentice Harry Grace, did not.
