Team to beat
It was pleasing to read Blake Shinn’s tweet on the retirement of Who Shot Thebarman (24/11). We hope Blake is on the mend and that retirement for him is many years away.
The combination of horse and rider aren’t always the perfect match but in this case Blake was the hoop who excelled on Thebarman and was a very important part of the success of that horse.
To have had five per cent of the horse would have been reward enough.
He was quite an outstanding and successful horse. Credit is due to trainer Chris Waller.
I think Humidor has been another quite outstanding success who was at his best when Shinn was riding him.
On another topic, John Allen’s patience and confidence on Kiwia was far and away the riding highlight of Ballarat Cup day. He stayed on the rails, cut the corner and had the race won in a flash.
