Melbourne’s autumn needed it. Now it’s onwards and upwards with innovation, especially involving Joe Public.
If this year’s 10 highest voted runners aren’t quite up to the desired standard, fair enough. Them’s the rules, that’s the field.
Next year there may be a higher minimum grade clause inserted. Although if public interest generated by getting lesser horses into the field outweighs the benefit of having the strongest field, maybe not?
