Don't diss the Diva

Bobby Webb (20/4), ye of little faith. Let me make a few observations from my Miller’s Guide 2016/16 edition (the last one published) regarding Makybe Diva.
In the cups she carried 51kg in 2003, 55.5kg in 2004 and 58kg in 2005. Vinnie Roe carried 58kg in 2004 and 2005 yet she beat him twice.
On a dead track in 2005 she recorded a time of 3:19.17, which betered Fiorente, Green Moon, Dunaden, Viewed and Delta Blues, who all won on good tracks.
Remember it was the overseas trainers who wanted slower tracks. I don’t think they were doctored for her. She won on a good track in 2003.
Of the mares who have won the cup she has carried more weight than Jezabeel, Let’s Elope, Empire Rose, Ethereal, Hi Jinx, Light Fingers and Evening Peal.
On top of the ground she won the 2005 Australian Cup in 1:58.73 — faster than Lonhro, Northerly, Octagonal, Saintly, Let’s Elope, Better Loosen Up and Vo Rogue, not bad horses in their on right. That time is an Australian record for all tracks.
Also she is the only horse since Carbine way back in 1889/90 to win the Melbourne Cup-Sydney Cup double in the same season.
If you wish to know more about the mare, watch the DVD about hr or read Glen Boss’s book.
Blinkers off, please.
