Choice is yours

I think Richo’s insightful “How did we get it so wrong?” column (11/1) succinctly sums up exactly what Winning Post is all about: an all-encompassing overview of facts plus informed direction from experts who, like most, won’t always get things right — but often do.
Surely the appeal of the punt is to take all such information on board, add one’s own thoughts and invest accordingly?
Over many years associates and I have shared one common thread: stick with your systems and we all know what happens when you don’t — up pops that good-priced winner!
Many things work for me. For a start, of course, certain trainers and jockeys.
I can’t recall the last time I saw Greg Ryan fail to give a mount every chance, while Patrick Payne seems to take his runners to the track ready to win.
I also like those runners racing at home, more so if they were a beaten favourite last start.
Finally, to give credit to the TAB form people, their 100-raters generally run well. Leave them out of your multis and exotics at your peril.
So to all at WP, don’t be too hard on yourselves and keep up the good work.
The final choice is, after all, up to us, and where else can you get such good advice for just $5.50?
