Letter of the Week

Time to change back

In answer to letters from Walter McShane (18/4) and Trevor White (25/4) on the direction horses are led in the mounting yard, the change of direction was prompted by what was thought to be a danger to the public — horses parading next to the mounting-yard fence, with their handlers on the inside.
Genuine horsemen such as Gerald Egan, John Patterson and myself  believe that now, with the public absent, would be a good time to reintroduce the leading of horses in the mounting yard the correct way.
When the horses arrive at the barrier, the barrier attendants lead them in the correct way.
