Each way? No way
Will the passing of Victor Ma also signal the end of each-way betting in Melbourne betting rings? Many a day in recent times he was the only one prepared to bet each way on Saturday metropolitan races.
There has been a huge shift in recent times towards separate win and place dividends by the satchel swingers, where they try to pinch fractions from the place dollar by offering under the true each-way place value.
I for one refuse to bet with these other thieves.
It was ridiculous enough that members have had to leave the members’ enclosure to have an each-way bet out the back. Will we now be forced to ring up the corporate bookmakers from on course to get true value for our dollar? Isn’t there meant to be an advantage for being on track?
It’s time the Victorian Bookmakers Association forced its members to declare whether they are each-way, win-only or place bookmakers.
The service we are getting on course is deteriorating and does nothing to encourage us to attend.
