One good Turn
By Winning Post, February 7, 2016 - 8:06 AM

The Kiwis did their share of pillaging and plundering in Australia last spring and the trend is set to continue in the autumn.

New Zealand stars set to hit our shores in the coming weeks and months include Hasselhoof, Xtravagant, Kawi and Tavago. But one who's already been here and done plenty is the Murray Baker-trained Turn Me Loose (pictured), who resumes this Saturday in the first Australian Group 1 of 2016, the C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m).

Turn Me Loose completed a triumphant first Aussie campaign with a hat-trick of victories in the listed Seymour Cup, Group 2 Crystal Mile and Group 1 Emirates Stakes.

Will he start 2016 on a similarly bright note? Paul Richards's Orr Stakes preview will lead this week's Winning Post.

There's plenty of top-class action on the Caulfield undercard as well, with the Blue Diamond Preludes, the Rubiton Stakes and more. At Randwick there's the Apollo Stakes, the Light Fingers, the Triscay and the Southern Cross, and there's also black type on offer in Brisbane and Perth.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for the Moonee Valley and Canterbury night meetings as well as the daytime action at Echuca plus fields, colours and tips for the other Friday venues.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Caulfield in Melbourne, Randwick in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide, Doomben in Brisbane and Ascot in Perth.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Yarra Valley (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Kembla Grange NSW editon) and Gold Coast (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for three more TAB meetings including Colac Cup dayplus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 4, while further back in the book Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
