Lass up to imposing task
By Winning Post, May 29, 2016 - 11:11 AM

The Queensland carnival makes its long-awaited return to Eagle Farm this Saturday and for the staying three-year-old fillies the stakes couldn't be higher.

Up for grabs is the Group 1 Queensland Oaks, a race won in 2015 by a filly who is now Australia's champion racehorse elect, Winx.

Dual-state trainer Bjorn Baker is hoping his filly Imposing Lass can announce his arrival in the Sunshine State with victory in Saturday's 2400m classic.

Baker is confident the daughter of Makfi can bounce back from her last-start third from a wide barrier in The Roses.

Can she do it? Peter Lyne's Eagle Farm preview will lead this week's Winning Post.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for the meetings at Geelong, Tamworth and Taree plus fields, colours and tips for the other Friday venues.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Ladbrokes Park in Melbourne, Rosehill in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide, Eagle Farm in Brisbane and Belmont in Perth.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Devonport (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Kembla Grange (NSW edition) and Gold Coast (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for four more TAB meetings plus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 4, while further back in the book Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
